On the fields,
The men were burning a subtle white.
Shark skins, a bright yellow in the night.
I don’t know, what will happen
What will happen is in my mind.
It didn’t take a twister
to rock my boat with life.
And hey mister,
Would she stay with me tonight?
On the airplanes,
The babies slumber peacefully.
Each horizon, is a message from him to me
For once, people enjoy each others company.
We all talk, and not just while the drinks are free.
I might have been mistaken,
But, the flight attendants don’t talk quietly
They were mistaken
There would be more to what we see.
In the sculpture of anything,
Bricks erode into dusty fingerprints
And the observers nod their heads and plant their fingers on their cheeks.
Who’s to tell, there is no difference in everything.
On the ground,
I lost the plot of your alibi
Must’ve walked
Must’ve seen finally something right,
Through the grind and chill, the strangers bow to each other at midnight.
Dear desert chalk, I need a scapegoat in my life.
To bet against lost causes
And be the one, we blame when it doesn’t go right.
On the branches
A sparrow has a few too many.
Lands at home,
hangs his hat and coat in the little wooden closet.
He looks around, and sees
that the robin’s dinner’s cold
She rumbles through her beak
Something mean.
What you do is something I can’t explain.
What do you expect? The ones with little wings
Need more than I’m sorry and sickly field mice.
Only a windstorm,
Could bring our nest down with you.
Darling, I won’t wake you,
Even if it rains all night.
On the sea,
We were lost somewhere above Illinois,
Hey today,
This town missed the call.
Hey next week,
How far is ohio from tonight?
I swear,
We would’ve crawled, but we just didn’t have the time.
Though my knees creak and my mind’s got a date with expiration
I hope my ears have a damn long life.
Would’ve flossed,
I couldn’t find the time.
Should’ve flossed,
But there never was no time.
